Rahim approaches each treatment with the understanding that pain manifesting as physical symptoms may result from several sources. He brings his curiosity for learning and dedication to his patients into his work as a Registered Massage Therapist.
He was inspired to become a RMT when he experienced transformative changes in his own health while receiving treatment from an Osteopath and RMT who practiced advanced Craniosacral techniques. After ten years of feeling the changes in his own body, Rahim began to incorporate this knowledge into his own style of treatment. He continues to expand his learning and bring a broad integration of study and knowledge to his understanding of the human condition.
Treatment is an opportunity to find where/how the body may be holding patterns of restriction at subtle layers of the body’s connective tissue or fascia. Rahim has developed a sensitivity to feel fascia restrictions that may be causing pain and misalignment. Such restrictions may be due to previous injuries or trauma, and once released, the body gradually makes its way back to equilibrium. His intent during treatment is always to encourage improved nervous system function and blood flow which influences all other body systems improving circulation, immune function, joint and muscle function, and overall calmness and well-being.
Rahim combines different treatment techniques including advanced Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Joint Mobilization, Muscle Energy, and Trigger Point Therapy – to restore normal body functioning and relieve pain. He treats a variety of conditions and is experienced working with a broad range of complex and acute pain, injuries, and other trauma to the body.
Prior to entering massage therapy, Rahim worked professionally as an adolescent educator and mentor with Vancouver-based Environmental Youth Alliance, and later with a national faith-based educational institution. Both experiences developed his capacity to be of service and understand others better through compassion and deep listening. Other notable experiences include extensive training and volunteering at a Crisis Phone Line, and recent certification in Mental Health First Aid.
Knowing the body/mind’s remarkable capacity to rehabilitate, he looks forward to working with you to explore the possibilities you can achieve.
