Virginia is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with an MSc in Behavioural Psychology from the University of Liverpool. She has been working with people in the fields of mental health and addictions since 2001, supporting individuals and groups of people struggling with issues such as substance misuse, anxiety, trauma, stress management, mental health, and related disorders.
Virginia successfully works with her clients to enhance their lives by combining the knowledge she has acquired through her years of practice with the wisdom she has gained from her own personal experience overcoming trauma. she is determined to help people as much as she has been helped; her goal is to aid clients in the process of understanding that their trauma and their past do not define them as individuals.
She uses a number of practices in her therapy, some of which include:
– EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an efficient therapy allowing the body to reprocess disturbing experiences; thus decreasing anxiety, alleviating negative self-talk and negative beliefs, increasing confidence, and eventually helping the client become free from the past.
– DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy); by practicing mindfulness clients become more grounded and present, as they begin to leave judgements aside and learn to accept themselves and their feelings.
– Motivational Interviewing Techniques to support people translating goals into change, breaking bad habits, building confidence, and inspiring them to get motivated in the face of resistance.
Throughout her experience, Virginia has developed an unparalleled ability to relate to others and intuitively respond to their needs, providing practical support, clarity, motivation, confidence, and accountability on the path to a more healthy life balance.
She looks forward to meeting you and welcomes a free 15 minute meet n’ greet.
